FAQ
Common questions about Clautron.
Is Clautron free?
Yes. Clautron is GPL-licensed and free on WordPress.org. There is no Clautron subscription or paid tier. You bring your own AI provider API key and pay them directly for the tokens you use.
How much does the AI cost?
It depends on your provider. A typical blueprint generation uses 2,000–8,000 tokens. With current Anthropic Claude pricing, that's roughly $0.01–$0.04 per blueprint. Generating one feature per day for a year costs less than $15. Or use Ollama locally for zero cost.
Does Clautron send my site data anywhere?
No. Only the prompts you type in the AI Assistant are sent to your configured provider. Posts, users, comments, settings, and the rest of your WordPress data never leave your server. See Safety & security for the full list.
Can I use Clautron without the AI?
Yes. You can write blueprints by hand or import them from JSON. The AI Assistant is the easiest way to start, but everything it generates is just a JSON document — you can author the same JSON manually using the primitives reference.
What happens if I deactivate Clautron?
All features, jobs, and reports stop running. Custom post types and taxonomies registered by Clautron disappear from the admin (their database content remains intact). Reactivating the plugin restores everything.
What happens if I delete Clautron?
Blueprints stored in the database are removed by the uninstall handler if you opt in. Post meta, custom post type rows, and other content created by features remain — Clautron does not delete user-generated content.
Can two features conflict?
Yes — two features that both register a column with the same key on the same post type, for example, will conflict. The activity log will show a warning. Either edit one of the blueprints to use a different key, or deactivate the older feature.
Does Clautron work with my theme / page builder / other plugin?
Clautron uses standard WordPress hooks and APIs. It works alongside Elementor, Advanced Custom Fields, WooCommerce, and most other plugins. Edge cases:
- Custom post types from other plugins — Clautron can attach metaboxes, columns, and triggers to them
- Block editor / Classic editor — both supported
- Headless WordPress — REST routes registered by features work as expected
Can I run Clautron in WP-CLI?
Partial support. wp clautron list, wp clautron activate <id>, and wp clautron job run <id> work today. Full CLI coverage is on the roadmap.
How do I report a security issue?
Email security@dudaster.com with details. Please do not file public bug reports for security issues. We aim to acknowledge within 48 hours and patch within 7 days for verified vulnerabilities.
