Jobs
A Job is an automated task that runs on a schedule — either once at a specific time or repeatedly on a cron expression. Jobs use the same actions and logic primitives as Features, but instead of reacting to WordPress events they run on a timer.
Job types
One-time
Runs once at a specific date and time, then stops.
Example: Send a summary email on January 1st at 9am.
schedule_type: one_time
run_at: 2025-01-01 09:00:00
Recurring
Runs repeatedly on a cron schedule.
Example: Every Monday at 8am, archive posts older than 90 days with no activity.
schedule_type: recurring
cron_expression: 0 8 * * 1
Cron expressions follow the standard 5-field format: minute hour day-of-month month day-of-week.
Common examples:
| Expression | Meaning |
|---|---|
0 9 * * * | Every day at 9:00am |
0 8 * * 1 | Every Monday at 8:00am |
0 0 1 * * | First day of every month at midnight |
*/30 * * * * | Every 30 minutes |
Optional conditions
Any job can have an optional condition. If the condition fails, the job's actions are skipped for that run — but the job remains active and will try again on the next scheduled run.
Example: "Send a daily report — but only if there are more than 10 new posts today."
Managing jobs
Go to Clautron → Jobs to see all jobs with their schedule, next run time, last run time, and status. Each job row shows:
- Schedule — one-time datetime or cron expression
- Next Run — when it will run next
- Last Run — last execution time with a ✓ or ✗ indicator
- Error — expandable last error message if the job failed
Bulk Activate: Select multiple jobs with the checkboxes and click Bulk Activate Selected.
Creating a job
Click + New Job — the AI Assistant opens with job context pre-set. Describe what you want to schedule:
- "Every Sunday at midnight, find all draft posts older than 30 days and delete them permanently."
- "Once, on 2025-06-01 at 10am, send an email to admin@mysite.com with the text 'Summer campaign starts today'."
wp-cron.php on a regular interval.
