Reports
A Report is a saved data query that returns a list of items matching specific criteria. Reports are read-only by default — they show you data without modifying anything.
What a report does
Reports use a data_query primitive to fetch data and display it in a results panel. Output formats:
- Table — rows and columns, sortable, exportable to CSV
- Chart — bar, line, or pie chart for numeric data
- Count — a single number (e.g. "Total posts: 142")
Example reports
Posts by author this month
- Query: posts published in the last 30 days, grouped by author
- Output: table with columns Author Name, Post Count, Total Word Count
Inactive users
- Query: users with a registration date older than 6 months and zero published posts
- Output: table with Username, Email, Registered Date, Last Login
Comment volume by week
- Query: count of approved comments per week, last 12 weeks
- Output: bar chart
Creating a report
Open the AI Assistant and describe what you want to see. Be specific about:
- What data — posts, users, comments, taxonomy terms
- Filters — date ranges, status, custom field values
- Output — table, chart, count
- Sort & limit — newest first, top 100, etc.
Examples:
- "List all posts in the 'announcement' category from the last year, sorted by view count."
- "Show a pie chart of posts by category for posts published this year."
- "How many users registered in each of the last 12 months? Show as a line chart."
Running a report
Go to Clautron → Reports. Click Run on any saved report. Results render in a panel below the report list. From there you can:
- Export CSV — download the full result set as a comma-separated values file
- Re-run — refresh the data with the latest values
- Edit — adjust filters, columns, or output format
Reports run on demand — they do not pre-cache results. For very large data sets, add a
limit in the query (e.g. limit: 1000) and consider running the report as a Job that emails you the result CSV.
