Seasonal design changes are easy to underestimate. A palette change becomes a logo change, then a banner change, then a typography tweak, and suddenly the header has three versions nobody wants to maintain.
Use one Look instead of scattered edits
Custom Look & Feel is the orchestration layer for ECS Pro. A single Look can combine:
- a Color Scheme,
- a Font Scheme,
- an Alternative Site Logo,
- custom CSS.
That gives the campaign a named configuration instead of a set of template hacks.
Prepare the seasonal assets
For a holiday campaign, prepare the design inputs first:
- a named Color Scheme for campaign colors,
- a Font Scheme if typography should shift,
- a seasonal logo in SVG or PNG format,
- any CSS needed for small accents or campaign-specific elements.
Keeping those pieces separate makes the Look easier to understand and easier to update next year.
Choose activation conditions
Custom Look & Feel can be applied with conditions such as page, post type, taxonomy term, time interval, day of week, or always-on fallback. For a holiday campaign, a time interval is usually the cleanest rule. For a sub-brand or landing page, a page or taxonomy condition is often better.
Logo switching without duplicate headers
Alternative Site Logos lets the header keep one template while ECS changes the logo output based on the active rule. That matters because duplicated headers are easy to forget during later edits.
Why this is better operationally
The benefit is not just visual. It is operational. The campaign setup has a name, the conditions are explicit, and the site can return to its normal look without someone manually undoing edits across multiple templates.
Pre-launch checklist
- Preview the Look on desktop, tablet, and mobile.
- Check contrast for the seasonal palette.
- Confirm the logo file looks sharp on high-density screens.
- Verify the fallback Look after the campaign condition no longer matches.
- Document the rule so the next campaign starts from a known setup.
Seasonal theming works best when it is treated like a system, not a last-minute decoration pass.
