Connect Claude Code
Use a remote HTTP MCP connection with your site endpoint and a scoped AICOM key.
1. Prepare your connection
Install AICOM and create a key with the permissions needed for your task. Copy the endpoint and token from AICOM. Replace the example URL and placeholder token below with your own values.
2. Add the server
Run this in your terminal, outside a Claude Code chat:
claude mcp add --transport http aicom https://example.com/wp-json/aicom/v1/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_AICOM_KEY"This uses Claude Code’s default local scope. Add --scope user if you intentionally want the connection available across your projects. Avoid putting real credentials in a shared project file.
3. Verify
claude mcp listOpen Claude Code and run /mcp to inspect the connection. Ask: “Use AICOM to show the site summary and list my five latest published posts. Do not change anything.” The tools shown depend on your key and enabled modules.
4. Make a controlled change
Before writing, the agent must call session.open with a name and description. Back up supported content, make the requested change, read it back and close with session.close. Check each tool’s schema before calling it.
JSON configuration
If you manage MCP configuration yourself, the remote server entry needs type: "http". For supported config locations and scopes, follow the official Claude Code MCP documentation.

If the REST route is blocked, use the fallback https://example.com/?aicom=1 with the same Authorization header. A 401 can indicate a missing, invalid or revoked token. See troubleshooting.
Working across sites
AICOMBase is the online dashboard for connected sites, monitoring, site checks and AI activity. AICOM is the plugin on each WordPress site. You can connect directly through MCP or optionally connect your site to AICOMBase.
